Textify was written to directly address a few problems that regularly occur with books posted in the e-book newsgroups, as well as places like Project Gutenberg.
These problems are as follows:
Line breaks at the end of every line instead of at the end of paragraphs.
No indentation and no double linefeed to indicate when the next paragraph begins.
Undesired formatting of paragraphs in general.
Multiple spaces in inappropriate places.
With these problems in consideration, Textify will output your file in one of the following formats:
Paragraphs with single line feeds and your desired level of indentation. One tab or a set-able number of spaces.
Squared off paragraphs with double line feeds between them.
An html file formatted like item #2.
You must use TEXT ONLY files. Other formats will not work, although no harm will be done in any event. It will NOT alter your original file. It will create a new file with the same name with the number 2 appended to it.
An intermediate file is created.
Since you must type in the file name (without dot or extension), it is best to have the program and the file you wish to alter in the same folder so you do not have to type in the path.
There are many text editors that can do all this and much more, but Textify addresses these issues directly in a quick and easy manner.
NOTE: Textify works exclusively with text-only files.
Furthermore, Textify will likely alter the formatting of poetry in an undesirable manner.
